On 29 August 2024, Health Canada announced a recall of baby cribs made in China.
The recalled products are Costway portable travel cribs. The products have a removable side rail, two securing cords and retractable legs, as well as five levels of height adjustment. Specific recalled product information is listed below:
The product does not comply with the regulations for cribs, cradles and baby bassinets, the angle of inclination is more than 7° and parts may fall off, the product mattress support pins may loosen, causing the mattress to fall and posing a risk of a child falling.
The recalled products were sold from June 2022-November 2023, with approximately 3,200 units sold in the U.S. and 120 units sold in Canada for $600-$800 USD.
To date, 12 reports of loose mattress support pins have been received and no injuries have been reported.
CPSC and Health Canada recommends stopping use of the product immediately and contacting Costway for a refund.
